Per the Pre-K in Family Child Care Project, family child care programs...
...Provide high-quality pre-K education (providers are highly educated)
...Bring unique strengths and assets to pre-K studies (we specialize in children between 0 and 5 years of age and, with our small size, provide a lot of individual time and attention to each child in our care)
...Provide continuity of care, which is crucial during this developmental time (more information about this under the Openings tab)
...Place racial, gender, and economic equality and justice as top priorities (providers strive to ensure each family is treated with dignity and respect)

Precious Treasures only takes 5 children, maximum -- an amount that has long been held as the best group size for children 0-5 years of age. Additionally, starting family child care between 3 and 6 months of age and leaving between 4 and 5 years of age provides the best quality care and education for each child physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and psychologically.
At Precious Treasures, we encourage creativity, individuality, and independence by providing an environment filled with love, patience, and kindness and a curriculum flexible enough to include specific interests and developmental needs. We believe children thrive best when love and routine are provided, so we create monthly schedules for events and activities – all focused on the children’s developing needs and interests. We also provide age-appropriate books, indoor and outdoor equipment, and educational materials – all in a fun and safe environment. Along with teacher instruction, each child has many opportunities to learn and grow at his own pace – allowing mastery of skills in his own space and time.
Our curriculum encourages children to explore and discover their world through the use of...
1. Sensory Play (e.g., water play, climbing equipment, multi-textured toys, etc.),
2. Activity Immersion (e.g., learning by doing to encourage mental, social, emotional, and physical growth), and
3. Environmental Interactions (e.g., museums, zoos, regional parks, libraries, farmers markets, and so much more!).
Parents receive a verbal chronicle of their child’s daily activities and are given time to ask questions and share insights. Parents are encouraged to be participatory – this is your child.
Precious Treasures has the experience and training needed for infants and toddlers. We remember what it was like to be a child and use those memories as well as our experiences and training to guide our words and actions so the children have appropriate behaviors to mirror. We set our standards high, but we know you would not want anything less.
While there are a number of competitors in the market (and in the area), none provide the range of services we offer with such a focused approach, for such a small group and competitive price.
Precious Treasures is a play-based childcare -- children learn best through play. We take the children to a variety of places (San Francisco Zoo, California Academy of Sciences, local libraries and festivals, seasonal locales, BADM, etc) so they can interact with their world, socialize, and get dirty! To ensure everyone's health and safety...
...We move as the need arises during our outings. Too crowded? That's all right. We'll move to another area or even another venue to ensure the children are safe.
...We wear PPEs (please see our COVID page for more information).
...We use eco-healthy cleaning products that are EPA recognized as killing COVID (versus just spreading it around) and are the least harmful to developing bodies.
...We modified our indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate more time spent here (versus many childcares who were forced to close because they did not have the room).
We are located in beautiful Richmond Heights. A few blocks from the 80 and a few minutes from the BART, we are able to serve you wherever you are headed.
We have a large backyard area with toys, activities, and crafts galore for children 0-5 years of age.
Children will care for what they love. They will also eat what they plant. Everyone has regular opportunities to choose plants, dig around in the dirt, water, harvest, and eat!
Currently everything is open, but a variant and common sense could curtail the outings. We will continue learning and growing wherever we are. Thankfully, we have chickens...
...rabbits...
...and ducks in the backyard for all to enjoy. Children get a chance to care for and touch these critters to learn about patience and kindness. They are also amazing for stress relief!
